Floor-Barre® for Dancers
Floor-Barre is a training and rehabilitation method based in classical ballet technique, with the student lying on the floor rather than standing at the barre. The support of the floor and a relationship to gravity of greater freedom, allow the student to focus on key areas of technique with razor-sharp precision. The slow, precise exercises reveal limiting habits and allow the student to make consistent corrections to improve their technique and performance.
The method is based on sound anatomical and biomechanical principles and the specific needs of dancers:
Increases core support, and stronger, longer muscles, with special emphasis on feet, legs, hips and back
Improves alignment of head, spine and pelvis and promotes better balance.
Increases range of motion and turnout
Improves coordination of body parts - the standing and working leg, for instance - in the execution of challenging movements
Gets you back on your feet following an injury
Accelerates training
This class strengthens and polishes your technique, no matter your dance style or class level.
