Back to Balance
A mindful movement class to improve posture, relieve pain, and promote greater freedom.
In this class we move in slow, deliberate, pleasurable ways, with attention to the breath and moment to moment awareness. We learn to move the way we are meant to move - with ease and balance - something our lifestyles often discourage. In the process, we become stronger, more flexible, better aligned, and freer in our movements. We acquire a strong kinesthetic sense: an awareness of the parts in relationship to each other and to the whole.
The class consists of specific movement patterns design to promote a harmonious relationship between body parts. We explore the full range of motion of the spine as it relates to the head and pelvis, and how these core structures support and interact with the limbs. We explore the body’s full capacity for movement.
The exercises progress through various positions from supine to standing, and then moving through space. As we move, we learn to loosen places that may be tight, reinforce places that may be weak, and rest places that are overused.
When we bring a greater unifying balance to the body, we rediscover the joy of movement. We learn to float!
